Morrissey: Greatest Hits
I didn't grow up on Morrissey and The Smiths. In fact, if you had tried to play a cd like this in the car with me in high school I would have undoubtedly ejected it, thrown in out the window, punched you in the face, and commanded you to do some push ups or something to prove you weren't a p*ssy.
My how naive I was.
As obsessed as I am with all things reggae, punk, 90's hip hop and the like I do have very broad musical tastes. Still I have been late to many of the best artists and albums that music as a whole has to offer.
Morrissey was the most glaring omission from my iTunes for a long time. I was first introduced to Moz and The Smiths in 2004. I immediately liked The Smiths. Hearing "This Charming Man" for the first time was amazing. I dove into The Smiths, but didn't warm up to Morrisey sans The Smiths for quite some time. I have to credit my partner Justin for pushing the importance of Morrissey's solo catalogue into my ears. It took a minute, but I saw the light. Now I have 4 Moz albums that continually play all the way through from beginning to end and my life sonically is much better for it.
This copy of his new "Greatest Hits" comes in three different versions. Unfortunately, this is the chincy version that only contains 15 tracks. The other versions contain multiple discs, different studio versions, and other tracks.
Two of them are brand new: "That's How People Grow Up" and "All You Need Is Me."
