Fight The Power

I'm as speechless as Corky's parents.

Where do I even start?

Tenor Saw

"Mi nearly broke mi neck" when I clicked on this tune.

In the last few years I've become pretty obsessed with digital 80's tunes. Being a dude that is obsessed with dancehall is alienating enough in Seattle, but being a dude that is obsessed with digital 80's tunes is like being that guy plus a bed wetter.

So even though I know 90% of you don't care about 80's digital tunes please feel free to email:

RBL Posse

And another no look pass from the Prince of Ballard with one of the most underrated rap groups ever.

RBL Posse a.k.a Ruthless By Law

For those in the Bay Area this was a staple album growing up. The church of RBL did manage to make its way down to SD. I was about 15 when I first heard "Don't Give Me No Bammer Weed." When I was getting schooled by my friend from the Bay he looked at me like I was retarded for not having heard of RBL after he bumped "Bammer Weed" I was sold.

If you have doubts watch the video:

This album is actually solid all the way through and ages pretty well.

Nancy Sinatra

Kill Bill brought this track back from obscurity and it is still one of my favorites.

Lamebook Of The Day

Lamebook.com is better than 99% of the web. The other 1% is obviously porn. Duh.

Aidonia "Bolt Action" by Federation Sound System

I was told by someone in the comment's section that I was sleeping by not posting any Aidonia.

Fair enough.

I've liked all the Federation tapes I have ever gotten my hands on and this one is good, but I could have done without all the mash-ups. Then again Raekwon's "Verbal Intercourse" with Aidonia over it is a pretty ridiculous combo that actually works.

I would rather hear the actual riddims mixed in with fewer rap mash-ups. It still works fine, but I actually prefer when Black Chiney Sound does these kinds of mash-ups.

Federation is still one of the best sounds so don't slag them off because they carry lots of big dubs.

Sound di helicopter ddddddddddddddeeeeeeeee Aidonia

SDTW Needs

Thanks in advance.

Busy Signal "Uniform Bad Boy"

On the "Praise Jahovia" riddim.

Chunnneeeeeeee

Triston Palmer

I wasn't sure if I had posted this album up or not. I've had it for a while and it's pretty rough.

The Roots Radics provide the backing, Jah Thomas on the controls, and the original Mr. Palmer pon the mic.

Track List:

Miserable Woman
Give Me A Chance
Sandra
The Girl I Love
Time So Hard
Run Around Woman

Vizie Blog

- Just good ol' fashion vandalism along with Twist, Amaze, WWL, Panda, Rife, and others

JA Interview

Graff Purge

To all the duns and all the little duns.

Bounty Killer "Gaza F*g and Drag"

Bounty's reply to the "Boxing Day" riddim chunes.

Pretty boring if you ask me.

Sting 2009 is right around the corner. Hopefully Bounty comes back with more than this.

Officer Ricky

How is this dude still rapping?

I Want My Noodles

This is out of pocket.

It gets serious and I quote:

"I put that on my Gran Mama's grave."

He is putting "that" (Ramen Noodles) on the burial place of his grand mother.

Can we get some t shirts for these dudes?

Thanks

Also if you go to the youtube check out the comment by Harry Sach "Nice tits"

Capone and Norega "The War Report"

First off...

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been swamped and can't get my internets on. I will come with some goodness soon enough.

Secondly,

This album is probably one of the biggest anomalies in hip-hop. It's considered a classic, but most people will agree that Nore's rhymes suck. So how can an album be a classic and have the main mc be one of the most off beat lyricists of all time?

I don't know.

You just have to sort of ignore all the "Iraqs, what whats, and 7 ga broos" or whatever the fuck Nore's retarded ass is saying. I mean dude makes Lil Dap look like fucking Nas.

The beats are the big draw here and Tragedy is a good QB emcee and from what I've read was the real reason why this album exists so remember that.

Thanks to the Prince of Ballard for the divshare assist.

Vybz Kartel "Get Gun Shot" Boxing Day Riddim

As predicted Vybz waited all but 2 weeks before getting back to the usual "beef" with Alliance.

Looks like they're getting started early on the Sting 2009 hype.

Smoke weed everyyyyyyydayyyyyyyy

Mista Grimm

On my 90's non sense still.

The word "indo" should come back into the public slang lexicon.

I love how Nate Dogg sings about the most pointless shit, but it's in key so what are you gonna say?

Also props on the mention of West Covina?

Second Life

Second Life Trailer from SLprod on Vimeo.

I think graffiti movies are finally coming into their own so to speak. I don't even really watch them for the most part. They all tend to go down the same exact path of ego stroking, temple of hip-hop, bum fight style bull shit.

I can tell you why most of them are unwatchable. They all nearly fail because the director thinks that because they are good at graffiti that they are qualified to be a filmmaker. My grandma could edit in iMovie if she wanted to, but that doesn't mean it's going to be worth watching whatever that crazy old coot churns out.

Now I haven't seen "Second Life" but at the very least it seems to be a well edited film and the director's quote below is very well put.

"Why would we do another film about graffiti? To be honest it is a stupid and egocentric passion. My aim is not to say " Look, I have painted more subways than you ". I do not either claim to be able to change the world with a video, because for me another world is not possible any more. I would just like to show that there is an alternative, a parallel life in which we escape this reality. The graffiti is a beautiful gesture of revolt, in any case a fascinating illusion of freedom. I could not continue to hide all these images; here is our second life."

1/2 Price

Speechless.

Just speechless.

Thanks Graham

I Heart The Internets

Feel free to add your own caption in the comments section.

Homies

Wish I could be there.

I Heart The Internets

I think Unite has gotten a few of these in his day.

They probably read more like:

"Can you play Bob Marley "No Woman No Cry"?

- Slam poetry dude with blond dreads

Too $hort

What is the best Too Short album? Hell if I know. They may as well all be the same.

Dude has been rapping this way since...since uh the beginning of rap I would say.

How old is Short? Like 61 or so?

Anyways, I like "Get In Where You Fit In" and a few other of his LPs.

So bump some Oakland shit on this grey and bleak Tuesday.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiyyyyyyyyyiiiiiccccchhhhhhh!

Barrington Levy

I feel like a broken record talking about how good Barrington Levy's catalog is. Anything he did in the late 70's and early 80's murders. It's hard to find an album I don't like.

I don't own the vinyl for this so I can't confirm when it came out, but most sites have it coming out from somewhere between 1982 - 1985.

As usual it is filled with bass heavy riddims and the "ghetto canary" singing over them perfectly.

Run it:

Tracks:
Trying To Ruin My Life
My Love Don't Come Easy
Mine You Hurt Mom
Skanking On Broadway
Open Book
Begging You A Ten Cent Sir
Ever Since
When You Are Feeling Hungry

Shawn Kemp x PeopleOfWalMart

Two forces of God collide here folks.

People Of Wal-Mart and none other than the mutha fuckin Reign Man.

Even before I became a resident of Seattle I whole heartedly supported any and everything this dude was involved in.

I had Reebok Kamikazes, I used to play the Sonics in NBA Jam, I had a wicked ass school folder with dude on it. Shawn Kemp could do no wrong in my eyes back then.

Now....

Well times have changed for our friend Shawn, but let us remember the good years he gave us.

Sorry about the stupid ad in the beginning.

Bussssssssyyyy

This tune has been out for a while, but I still like it quite a bit.

Busy Signal might just be the best deejay alive.

FYI:

The term "tie die face" is a verbal jab at Vybz Kartel who the Alliance claims uses skin lightening cream on his face to achieve that "good" skin look and apparently that is only for chi chi men. Go figure.

I am becoming the equivalent of a Dungeons and Dragons nerd, but with dancehall. It's pathetic.

Crem De La Crem

New Crem De La Crem tees are out.

I really liked the two pictured above. I would like it a lot better if you would get off your ass and send me some Dustin.

Eastbound and Down

"Hey April......."

Geto Boys

Geto Boys pioneered nearly everything good about Southern rap and without them there would be no Gucci, Jeezy, T.I, and all the other trap stars of the last 10 years. Before Geto Boys there was nothing.

A little bonus note. This amazing album cover (in my Top 5 rap covers easy) was shot on the spot after a botched suicide attempt by the littlest thuggish ruggish o.g Bushwick Bill. Luckily someone had the presence of mind to turn lemons into lemonade and capture one of the best LP covers EVER.

Let your mind play tricks on you with this one.

Geto Boysssssssssss

Chris Rock's "Good Hair"

This one looks pretty funny.

"This would last Prince about a month."

LAMEBOOK

I'm really disappointed in you all. I would have expected one of the SDTW faithful to have already sent me a link to this website by now.

You guys are lazy.

It's a whole website dedicated solely to facebook screen captures.

So disappointed in you guys. You let me down.

I guess if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

Now go and spend an hour on the best new website ever.

I will be posting choice "nugs" when I come across them.

Naughty By Nature

I've broke down Naughty By Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray" into a screen capture story board.

It's pretty funny when you look at it frame by frame.

Damn I miss the 90's.
