Design Of The Day

I like the wording, but the little hit at the bottom is sort of sloppy.

Trailer Park Boys: Countdown To Liquor Day Movie

I do my best to try and put you on to things kids. I really do. I'm certainly not doing this blog for the money. Unless someone out there wants to pay me than I will sell out with the quickness.

I'm digressing though....

The point is kids the Trailer Park Boys is one of the best tv shows ever made. Odds are you've never even heard of it or seen the first movie "The Big Dirty."

If you allow yourself to go on with your life not watching the Trailer Park Boys than just throw in the towel now.

The show is about Canadians who live in Nova Scotia in a trailer park. All they do is grow weed, drink rum and coke, and perform petty crime. Why you wouldn't want to watch that is beyond me?

Only Built For Cuban Linx

In honor of the upcoming release for "Only Built For Cuban Linx 2" I thought I'd post the original that started it all.

Before rapping about coke was radio friendly Rae and Ghost penned slang laden tales of drug life that has never been duplicated since.

Just glance at the Rae's lyrics from "Incarcerated Scarfaces":

"Thug related style attract millions
Fans, they understand my plan
Who's the kid up in the green Land?
Me and the RZA connect, blow a fuse, you lose
Half-ass crews get demolished and bruised
Fake be frontin, hourglass heads niggaz be wantin
Shuttin down your slot; time for pumpin
Poisonous sting which thumps up and act chumps
Raise a heavy generator
But yo, guess who's the black Trump?
Dough be flowin by the hour's
Wu, we got the collars, scholars
Word life, peace to power and my whole unit
Word up! Quick to set it, don't wet it
Real niggaz lick shots, peace Connecticut."

Who else can even rap like that?

Black Dynamite

This movie is gonna be awesome.

The part where the girl says that her mom told her that her daddy's name is Black Dynamite is worth the watch alone.

Trust me.

Graff Purge

Killer filler.

Arctic Monkeys

I remember when this band was pretty vogue in the hipper circles of the world.

It went something like this if my memory serves me:

You had to be up on The Strokes then Interpol then it was Bloc Party and THEN Arctic Monkeys got their turn to be cool.

I'm not sure who is the big swingin' dick band now a days. I'm not really in touch with my "people's" music.

I do still like this album. By and large I like most things English. Why? I don't know really know to be honest. I like British tv, Jon Cleese, Guy Ritchie movies, calling people cunts, dubstep, and ugly women. Maybe I was English in a past life. I really don't know.

The point being the Arctic Monkeys are a very English band and they sound better because of it. If they weren't I wouldn't listen to them I suppose.

"Riot Van"is by far the best song on here and I won'tt hear otherwise you puffs.

LOLTATZ

Bad tattoos are more common than pigeon shit these days, but now they are all collected into one place or blog to be more specific.

Check out LOLTATAZ.COM for all the internet's best or worst in tattoos.

Here's some of my picks:

iChat

Every once in a while the "current i-Tunes song" setting in iChat lines up real nice.

Katrel vs. Mavado Cartoon

I really feel like a broken record. How many times do I have to say it?

Dancehall is the BEST music in the world right now.

I mean what other music has poorly made youtube cartoons with the music artists shooting each other and telling each other to suck their mothers?

Get with it.

Compton's Most Wanted

You want to talk about branding?

Album cover? Check!
Album Title? Check!
Music? Check!

Anyone making music now should take note. When making an album try and have a point. It makes it a lot more interesting for those of us who have to listen to it. Don't just string together a whole bunch of singles produced by a slew of flash in the pan producers with guests spots by other rappers you think will help you break into other demographics.

Also a simple photo will suffice for album art. You don't need to superimpose your face into some movie poster or logo parody.

Brotha Lynch Hung

For those of you who did not grow up listening to Lynch my condolences.

I was your standard backpacker nerd growing up. Literally, I wore a backpack to most social events with the standard contents of: Bic lighter, a pack of Kools (wow), weed, glass piece, tape walkman, and the like.

I wasn't really having anything that didn't fit into the 90's hip-hop pantheon. I stayed with Pharcyde, Souls, Gravediggaz, Wu, Redman, Tribe, etc. When I started hanging with some kids from The Bay things changed sonically for me. All of a sudden I'm hearing dudes rapping over g-funk whistle style beats talking about eating dead baby guts, smoking "hella" weed, and getting stupid doo doo dum. A few dudes were even rapping from jail (well before that ever became vogue).

Anyways, my favorite album from the era was always "Season Of Da Siccness". It's a no brainer for must have Bay Area albums, but if you don't have it or haven't put it on in years I would suggest you do and start gettin locc 2 da brain cuz.

Do You Twitter?

Do you Twitter?

Then you my friend are a fucking asshole.

You can not follow SDTW on Twitter because I am not going to take the time to update the world every time I take a mental dump.

I'm already responsible for polluting the world with my dribble and worthless ramblings on pop culture, design, graffiti, and reggae (so un-hip).

Holy Ghost Vs. Drum N Bass

Catch the fever!

Aces International

Just copped this today. This one is really only for real dancehall nerds though.

Recorded live in 1982 and 1983 this album catches most of Volcano and Junjo artists live in the dance. This is the stuff you always hope to find when you go looking for records. It sounds like you're right there with all the echos from the zinc walls and drunk Jamaican people shouting over the artists.

I think Eek A Mouse actually takes the cake on this one, but Little John is in close second with a lot of forwards erupting from the crowd during his tunes.

The tracks are just labeled by artist:

Eek A Mouse
Buro Banton
Yellowman And Fathead
Little John
Toyan
Yellowman
Eek A Mouse
Toyan
Ringo
Beenie Man

Listening to Beenie Man from way back when is always worthwhile too. Dude was like 5 when he got on his start. Crazy.
