Trailer Park Boys

Above: The best television show you've never heard of.

I don't know why it took me this long to find this show, but trust me it is beyond amazing.

Simple premise: Mockumentary style show about characters Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles who live in a trailer park community in Nova Scotia, Canada. They spend most of their time plotting petty crime schemes, drinking booze, growing "hydro BC" in their trailers, and getting arrested.

Trailer Park Boys shows the rare "ugly" side of Canadians you never knew existed in all their wonderful glory.

The Trailer Park Boys Movie drops on February 20th.

Here's a link where you can watch every episode from the last 6 seasons.

Enjoy.

Taxi Riddim Part 2

Ed* How rad is this photo? It's all artsy and then you look closer and some old dude is getting owned by some other old man and it looks like he's going to put his face in a pile of dog turd. Hard to tell from this angle.

And to follow up with the Taxi Riddim post here's some of the better versions on mp3:

Buju Banton Slew Dem'

Buju Banton comes with it again.

On this "unofficial" single Buju tears it up over the 25 year old "Taxi" Riddim. The 7'' is not available as of yet, but that hasn't stopped the song from running the road in Jamaica and the song has found it's way onto the radio via Hot 97.

Available only on his "Too Bad" album.

Mavado vs. Vybz Kartel

Vybz Kartel

Mavado

From what I can glean in the news the last few months from the news dancehall has seen an increasing amount of friction between The Alliance (Bounty Killer's Crew) and one-time former member Vybz Kartel.

Kartel left The Alliance just recently after having his loyalty questioned by recording a tune with Beenie Man, dancehall super star and long time rival of Bounty. Mavado being in The Alliance decided to up the ante and take a blast at Kartel and now the answer tracks just keep coming.

Although, this makes for great headlines and news I personally feel that the "hyping" of beef is always dangerous and in Jamaica it is doubly so. I'd much rather see these two "squash it" and move on before we lose another artist to ignorance.

With that being I said I’ve uploaded the tracks because they're both really good tracks and the new "Drum Line" Riddim ain't too shabby either.

Enjoy.

With The Biz a Boom

Back with some new goodness for Monday.

I went to Portland with Jeremy for the first time to meet with a photographer. We sat around and watched hockey fight mixtapes on vhs. After that we went to some hippie owned pizza place with weed murals painted on the walls. It was your typical Oregonian owned family joint.

I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures. There were tons of photo ops, but I was just too lazy to do anything about it.

Awesome

So Nick sends me a picture of this Star Wars Inspiration Poster and it just got me thinking "What is awesome?"

Awesome is defined by Webster's Dictionary as something of expressive of "awe" or inspiring "awe."

Well, that seems certainly easy enough to do.

Nick sends me this flick and thus The "Awesome" Hunt began.

Two words, one man. Iron Sheik. I forgot all about dude until one day while driving around with Justin and Chauncey I was bombarded with the immense weight of Justin's uncanny knowledge of classic WWF stars and trivia.

Go ahead and google some these names and tell me you don't find some banging flicks of these dudes:

Ravishing Rick Rude, Jake The Snake, Hakim The African Dream, Seregant Slaughter, Ultimate Warrior, Coco Beware, The Junkyard Dawg, Jim "Hacksaw" Dugan, to name a few. My spelling may be off on a few.

From the vaults of 80's movies comes "Rad." This picture doesn't really do this particular scene justice being that in this scene they are performing at the big dance in a tandem freestyle bmx dance. WTF? Cocaine must have been so readily available in the 80's in Hollywood that anything got a fair shot. Also while they're freestyle bike dancing "Send Me An Angel" is blasting over the speakers. A few years later "Rad" star Lori Loughlin would get turned out by John Stamos a.k.a Uncle Jesse on Full House. Good for her!

What's awesome about this guy? Umm.. I don't know maybe his off the chain doo that no salon brush could ever tame. Dude is so legit. Also this photo isn't old I copped it today off The Cobra Snake like it was no thang.

The Rain Man. No one ruled the early 90's like Sean Kemp. Dude sonned everyone.
This one gets in on two seperate categories of "awesome."

1.) Because it's Sean F%*king Kemp
2.) Because it's one of those late 80's early 90's Donruss styled sports paintings that someone actually took the time to paint.

Ease Up

Above: Only Ninja can kill a ninja. Seen?

Not much going on in the Pac Norf other then some snow.

Snow? I moved from the perfect weather capital of the world to the wetest climate outside of the Amazon. The thing is having lived in SD my whole life to actually see a change in the "seasons" is refreshing. The only way you knew the seasons had changed in Southern California was by what sports were on tv.

My camera broke at my going away party and I'm pretty sure alcohol played a role. Oh well. I'll get a new camera and start hitting you off with the best the city's got to offer as soon as I can.

So for now just seckle...

Spiders on Drugs

Ed*

And for the first thing posted on the new blog I give you "Spiders On Drugs."

Moving on...

Here's some new concept work for a project I'm working on with the legendary Ghost. Most people never see the concept art for projects and like most good designs they start with basic line art and a few colors and evolve into something much more original then your average design.

The best new mp3 blog out right now

A New Chapter

I have started a new blog which will continue with much of the same content as the Militree blog, but will now be focused solely on the friends, adventures, and creative projects of the crew versus being a blog for the brand. When Militree gets a new website/blog you will be notified. So please change your bookmarks and links to the new spot.

However, I will no longer be running the Militree brand in 2007 and I wish them all the luck in the next year.

SDTW will deliver the same bloggy goodness as before with updates on the absurdity of pop culture, news from the Third World Strife, graffiti, skateboarding, artshows, clothing brand/shop news, inner city humor, dancehall/reggae news, mp3's, and the photos from all our combined adventures.

If you wish to submit anything or advertise get at me on the email tip:
