Wu-Tang Is For The Children
Why post an old Wu-Tag album?
Probably because you haven't listened to this in years and probably because it is most likely better than what you are listening to right now.
Also I was watching a documentary on ODB (on my white people shit) and I forgot about how good this album was. Also the dude's first rap name was "The Wizard Of Do It Land".

Friday Jam
The year was 1997 and I was 16 years old. My favorite things in the world were weed, skateboarding, and hip hop (in that order) and I thought this song was so awesome.
It still holds up pretty well, but sadly I have moved on from weed and skateboarding.
Well, that is not entirely true. I still skate from time to time, but not with the care free, sunrise to sunset energy I once put into it. Maybe it was because the weed made me skate better? Maybe if I smoked weed again I could skate really good? Maybe weed makes you better at everything? Maybe weed is the answer to...life?

Bagua x Wu Tang

Any self respecting god would not wear these glorified aqua socks.
The RZA is the Samuel L. Jackson of rap.
He will say "YES" to ANYTHING.
Off the top ideas that RZA would say yes to:
- Wu-Tang Logo parachutes
"Yo where my killa chute at, god?"
- Wu-Tang x Joe Boxers
"Wear Wu-Tang x Joe Boxers so your dick can breathe"
- Wu-Tang Crocs
"Finally Crocs for all the gods AND the earths"
- Official Wu-Tang brand switch blade comb
I'm running out of steam.
Feel free to add any other awesome Wu-Tang product ideas below.
Also f.y.i I've hung with RZA twice and the dude is awesome. He just likes putting that "W" on anything and I don't blame him.

The Charmels
I may or may have not posted this song before, but regardless it is a great rainy day tune and it gets double dap for turning into one of the best samples of all time.

Killarmy

When I was at my most back packingness I thought this album was the shit. Listening to it now brings back good memories, but these dude's were seriously talking non-sense the whole time.
The thing was even though at that time (1997) I thought rappers were a huge deal. I would be geeked to hang out with a rapper when I was still in high school, but even back then I felt like Killarmy were just regular dudes. Not in the sense that they were humble or down to earth, but that they were just regular ass dudes. For all I knew any young black male in fatigues in New York at that time could have been a member of Killarmy.
Seriously man. If I had visited New York in 1997 and a random 20 something black male was wearing fatigues and sitting next to me on the L Train I would have probably leaned over and asked him if he was in Killarmy.
Little weird factoid. Killarmy's third and final album was released on 9/11/01.
Now who's crazy son?

Only Built For Cuban Linx

In honor of the upcoming release for "Only Built For Cuban Linx 2" I thought I'd post the original that started it all.
Before rapping about coke was radio friendly Rae and Ghost penned slang laden tales of drug life that has never been duplicated since.
Just glance at the Rae's lyrics from "Incarcerated Scarfaces":
"Thug related style attract millions
Fans, they understand my plan
Who's the kid up in the green Land?
Me and the RZA connect, blow a fuse, you lose
Half-ass crews get demolished and bruised
Fake be frontin, hourglass heads niggaz be wantin
Shuttin down your slot; time for pumpin
Poisonous sting which thumps up and act chumps
Raise a heavy generator
But yo, guess who's the black Trump?
Dough be flowin by the hour's
Wu, we got the collars, scholars
Word life, peace to power and my whole unit
Word up! Quick to set it, don't wet it
Real niggaz lick shots, peace Connecticut."
Who else can even rap like that?

Wu Tang

This album has been dubbed the return of real Wu.
Basically the RZA finally just returned to what made people like Wu Tang in the first place and just made an album with kung fu samples, basic drums and a whole bunch of 90's rappers all rolled into one.
Cool with me.
The best cameos come from Havoc, Sean Price, and Ghostdini.
Give it a listen and get your mid-90's on with the gods, god.

Enter The 37th Chamber

This is my new favorite album.
If you weren't up on the 7 inches that came out 3 years ago I wouldn't blame you. Those snuck under the radar, but this album is too good not to own.
The El Michels Affair covers instrumentals from "Enter The 36th Chamber". Need I say more?
Just get it.

Killah Priest

A little bonus album cause it's Friday.
Killah Priest's "Heavy Mental"
I remember there was this wave of mescaline going around our city when this album came out and we would trip out and play this album all the time thinking Killah Priest was some sort of modern day lyrical shaman.
Now of course I realize that we were just dumb skateboarding delinquents on hallucinogens thinking anyone involved with Wu Tang had "magical" powers.
Live and learn.
It's still a good album though.

"The sick lunatic with the devilish poem..."
I think a lot of you have a soft spot for this album. I remember being in 2nd period P.E class putting this tape (yeah m*th fucka I said tape) in my beat up walkman and zoning out before they would call my name and number for calisthenics.
This album epitomizes the glory days of my high school years. During that time I only had a few dollars in my pocket, a skateboard, walkman, and my back pack.
The opus release from the super group of RZA, Frukwan a.k.a The Gatekeeper, Poetic, and Prince Paul was originally titled "Niggamortis" but label execs obviously got spooked and changed it to "6ft Deep" with only the European copies keeping the o.g and in my opinion the superior title.
Poetic suffered from colon caner and finally passed in 2001. The group never really re-united properly and none of the subsequent releases ever captured the vibe of the first album.
Take a trip down memory lane.
Track Listing:
* 1 - Intro
* 2 - Constant Elevation
* 3 - Nowhere To Run, Nowhere To Hide
* 4 - Defective Trip
* 5 - 2 Cups Of Blood
* 6 - Blood Brothers
* 7 - 360 Questions
* 8 - 1-800-Suicide
* 9 - Pass The Shovel (only on the European release)
* 10 - Diary Of A Madman
* 11 - Mommy, What's A Gravedigga?
* 12 - Bang Your Head lyrics
* 13 - Here Comes The Gravediggaz
* 14 - Graveyard Chamber
* 15 - Death Trap
* 16 - 6 Feet Deep
* 17 - Outro
And I quote:
The cause of death is unknown to the cops
Cause when I kill them, I'm not leavin one element to autopse
First I'll assassinate em
And them I'll cremate them
And take all of his fucking ashes and evaporate em
Or creep through the graveyard and hunt down your tombstone
Dig up your skeleton and stomp all your fucking bones
You try to haunt me nigga, I ain't trying to hear it
Buck buck buck, I'll give your ass a holy spirit.

Onyx featuring Wu Tang Clan
I'd be really surprised if anyone remembers this video. When this came out I thought it was the best thing ever captured to celluloid. Having aged 10 years I realize that may not be the case, but the video is still really cool after all this time. I tried to find a higher resolution version, but it didn't happen. I'm sure some German back pack nerd has it on his blog, but unfortunately I was unable to track it down.
Enjoy.
