Lil Boosie

If you are curious as to why I support blatantly out of pocket ignorant rap it is directly related to the fact that I lived in the South for 3 years. I became obsessed with chopped and screwed tapes in 2001 or so and have never been able to stop listening to the damn music.

Granted it is more chic to bump Southern rap now, but at the time when I'd come home to San Diego my friends thought I was loony for listening to half speed rap with dudes named Chamillionaire, Mr. Lucci, Slim Thug, no less.

Lil Boosie is a whole other beast. Dude is from Louisiana which is probably one of the craziest backwoods states I've ever been to. Louisiana makes Texas looks like Switzerland if that lends you any perspective.

I think he sort of sounds like a little kid who is acting up in class which sort of becomes his most "endearing" quality after a few listens. Ironically I believe Lil Boosie is the father of six children which might explain where he derives his youthful tone.

You will just have to trust me on this one.

The irony here my friends is that myself and Icepick probably play this cd more than any other album I have when we're driving around town.

Ignant for life.

Video is straight rubbish, but who cares.

Young Jeezy

Not everyone is into trap rap. I myself tired of it a while back, but there are some albums that I personally think are actually too good to be considered just trap rap.

If Tony Robbins used metaphors for selling cocaine and ways of distributing said cocaine to motivate his audience he could pretty much just read the lyrics verbatim from this entire LP.

Hell, I could give this cd to my Moms and she would know how to run a trap empire. It's like the anarchist's cookbook for dope.

However, the aftermath from this release and its subsequent commercial popularity also led to a few suspect trends.

The first and most egregious was the legions of fat kids at bus stops rocking "Snowman" tees with sh*t like "I Got That Snow Mannnn" emblazoned on the back.

No dude. You don't have that snow, man. You do not sell that white "gurl" and the only thing you're "holdin" playboy is a half eaten Three Musketeers bar in your hand.

Secondly, a lot of dudes re-appropriated Jeezy's adlib vocal style and sort of ruined the novelty of it all. People like Oj Da Juiceman, Shawty Lo, and a whole slew of others have made careers off of Jeezy's adlib style. People bite it is inevitable.

So hate on this one all you want, but I'm gonna bump this one for a long time.

Ignorant Rap Mix: J-Zone

Ed* If you looked like J Zone you probably would have developed a sense of humor as well

Of all the music and mixes that I will post up this one is hands down the most socially "irresponsible."

I don't really know anyone who has this mix really save for Trademark of all people. The only way to have gotten it was you had to purchase a J-Zone album from Sandbox Automatic way back in the day.

J-Zone made a string of classic albums in the early 00's that were sort of a head of there time in predicting the down fall of the "backpack" scene and usually found J Zone criticizing the very fan base that supported him. When he got ready to drop his third album he chose to include a little mix that he had whipped up.

The mix was simply called "Ignorant Ass Rap Mix" and was just a little promo mix you got for buying the album. It features gems of some of the most misogynistic, gorilla pimptastic, sick ducking, dookey shoot, style rap ever compiled.

While avoiding the better known material of most of these artists and strictly picking out tracks that found them rapping about the worst of the worst subject matter J-Zone sort of created a mix that is better then almost any serious rap mix I own.

It encompasses several genres including, West Coast, G-Funk, Miami Bass, Dirty South, Bay Area, NY 90's, and even a little New Orleans high hat and snare ish.

I don't have a track listing, but really most of these tracks really need no introduction individually because the mix as a whole is what makes it worth listening to.

Stand outs include joints from: Triple Six Mafia, UGK, Poison Clan (from Miami), old Master P, X-Rated (Bay Area), Eazy E, Big L, Biggie, Too Short, Sugafree, and a lot more.

Track 13 by 3 Six is easily the most irresponsible, misogynistic rap song ever crafted save for maybe UGK's classic "Pregnant Pussy."
