World Beard Championships

Above: Taken from the World Beard Championships 2007

So Yahoo loads up and you'd think that the news bullets would have something new to report on perhaps the never ending "war" on terror or even today's count of dead U.S soliders, but instead they had pictures from the World Beard Championships from Germany.

God Bless America and only America?

I give up.

Ikari Weekend Warriors

Above: Anyone else remember this game? Two shirtless Rambo esq. bad assess go running into the jungle with head bands and machine guns.

Back for another Monday post. This weekend was long and boring. I did go to the Sonics game on Friday with my cousin and the Sups beat the T'Wolves suprisingly. Other then that all energies are being spent on a big project almost 8 months in the making. You'll see it soon hopefully.

Keep it real.

King Tee IV Life

Ed* Not the album cover I needed but you trying finding King Tee flicks on Google

King Tee is constantly heralded on blogs as the biggest "unsung" pioneer of West Coast rap and hip-hop.

It's no mystery why most people have never heard of him.

Dude had zero marketing and he was easily over shined and pushed to the side by the larger then life powerhouse West Coast groups and artists like N.W.A , Cube, Dre, Eazy, Snoop, Ice-T, among others. He would even be outshined by the very groups and artists he put on like The Alkaholiks and Xzibit.

Oddly enough I grabbed this album for $7 in the used section way back in 1995. I was all of 14 years old at the time and I used to put this track on almost everyday my freshman year of high school. It has that nostalgia feel built into the melody.

Bad Blog

My page has been acting a fool lately and I've lost damn near 4 posts since Monday to the "program failed" window.

Not cool.

So I'm going to do my best to hit you with some back 2 back posts to make up for it.

Seattle Sonics

Above: A bird's eye view from Key Arena

Having lived in San Diego my whole life my biggest gripe was that we didn't have an NBA team. We did however have Master P playing for the San Diego Stingrays. The marriage would not last.

Now that I live in Seattle and I live no less then 10 blocks away from where the Sonics play and tickets happen to cost $10 a piece I have been able to catch up on basketball games that once eluded me.

Above: The Rain Man!!! Shawn Kemp's fall from glory is sad and not sad in your typical "fallen superstar" scenario, but more like when a good friend gets pu$$y whipped by some ugly chick kind of sad. Not sure if that makes sense.

Now it's important to bring a good squad to a sporting event mainly because if some dip sh*t starts flappin' his gums
(Note: the ratio between people who watch sports regularly and are also dip sh*ts is quite high) you're going to need some back up. I have seen fights in tons of stadiums. I may not be Mr. Joe Sports but I've seen it go down at the Big 12 Championship, numerous Chargers vs. Raiders games, Dallas Maverick games, Padre games, USC games, you name it.

Above: F'ckn Rick and Jeremy

I prefer to attend functions like these with my brothers (in-law). They’re good chaps and they're not afraid to upgrade their $10 seats to court level after the 1st quarter.

Cocaine Cowboys

Just finished watching this documentary today.

The film follows the entire Miami/Columbian cocaine trade with vivid story telling and shocking footage. I had no idea that Miami was that rough in the early 80's. Miami/Dade County was averaging 3 murders a day in 1981 with almost all of them being directly linked back to the cocaine trade.

The film skips over "coke rap" entirely and thus Jeezy, Weezy, Juelz, and T.I were noticeably absent.

You can buy it right here.

Or you can save yourself the dough and watch it HERE.

The Long Haul

I got projects galore going on right now.

Do you ever notice how people love to write on blogs about how busy they are?

I'm no different.

The irony of course is that they aren't too busy to WRITE about their apparently over demanding work load.

Ed* Remember freestyle walking? It's like that, but a little more crazy.

I heard a lot fuss about Gyptian from some heads at dancehalls, but never really thought much of him until I heard this track and now I see what all the fuss was about.

This tune was never released on 7'' so don't bother trying to grab it. It does appear on GreenSleeves' Biggest Reggae One-Drop Anthems 2006 which as far as comps go is pretty amazing.
