Ed* Two of the funniest people I know

Two words: Miniture Pony

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

*Graffiti $hit*

7th Letter Video: 7th Day Project for May
Ed* I'm gonna go out on a limb here and state that Rime may be one of the most complete writers ever

The Exchange
Ed* If you've been under a rock for the last year or two and haven't seen The Exchange site shame on you. They've re-designed the site and given it a much needed aesthetic make over. They also added Aroe from the UK to the squad. Also check the Re-Vamp The 90's project they have going on the side.

Ed* Also the chaps at Versus Store are pulling out all the stops for the upcoming Victor "Reyes" Chapa show on May 19th. They will be filming the new 7th Day Project installement and have some new 7th Letter posters that you can cop

And lastly a trailer for the new "Still Free" dvd

Ed* I'm not exactly sure what the entire purpose of the dvd is, but it looks like a blend of interviews, motion graphics, and pieces

You can buy it from Bombing Science

Where The Wild Things Are

Yesterday I saw a demolition crew tearing down a residential building and I took a mental note to remember the address. I suppose ordinary people pay little mind to construction areas like this one and probably think of them as little more then an eye sore.

However, I am drawn to places of decay, high-rise scaffolding, major construction zones and the like. When you walk in these places by yourself it feels like a scene from "28 Days Later" when the lead character wakes up and starts walking around London and he doesn't see anyone in the entire city.

It is the closest thing you can get to being in a ghost town. Every little noise booms out into the silence and feels significant.

It's an odd thing to experience to say the least.

Above: Here is a shot from 4 stories up

Above: Up the stairs I go

Above: Through the kitchen

Above: And finally a place to paint

I busted out a little outline, fixed it up, and added a quick background. I didn't have the space to finish the "O". The rest of the floors served as practice for some new throw-ups I've been working on of late.

These are where the wild things are...

Yabby You: Jesus Dread

Above: Yabby You

Finally pulled the trigger and bought this album today. I had a couple tunes from it already and Yabby You's "Conquering Lion" on vinyl, but I still wanted to get more Yabby You and this is easily the best anthology of his work available.

I haven't even scratched the surface of this 2-Disc set, but here's 3 tunes that stuck out right away.

Enjoy.

This is the opening sequence to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie that was done by NYC legend Reas AOK.

The animation is banging. Peep the subway cars as they go by and look at the miniture pieces he hooks them up with.

Seattle's Finest

In an effort to link people from San Diego to some of my new found Seattle counter-parts I've decided to do a quick post on 3 of the biggest villains the Emerald City has to offer.

First up:

Publik Hair

Run by the Diamond Jew a.k.a "Friend of No One"

J runs a very cut throat style blog that shows little mercy to any and everyone. His overall distaste for all things standard and idiotic comes through in each post and you get the idea that he may even dislike you. J himself works at Goods and dabbles in fixed-gear bikes, photo sniping, and double-fisting High Lifes'.

Ill Kinda

Run by J.R

J.R owns and runs Winner's Circle and a print house to boot and still finds time to run a blog of his daily runnings. Most of it revolves around bombing, hardcore music, grimey $hit in general, flicks from just about every bar in town, and the occasional random internet non sense.

One of first times I hung with J.R at The War Room he proceeded to buy rounds of Grey Goose shots and High Lifes for the whole table this of course was after I was already deep in the count on drinks. Next thing I know Justin (who was visiting at the time) and I are running from the pigs up and down Pike St. all damn night.

*I think Justin's affiliation with the gang known as "T$" played some roll in that night as well...

And lastly...

Pheed

Run by Phil a.k.a Pheed

Pheed posts pics and links for the sneaker obsessed and pics of his design work. He also is good at photo sniping randoms and "don'ts" and has even stated that "global warming" is a complete myth.

Pheed may have 1 or more dopplegangers in this city and I say this based on the fact that I have never been to one event that Pheed wasn't at nor can I make the rounds of the stores without him popping up out of nowhere. I've concluded that he has been cloned and that is the only resonable explanation as to how he appears to be "everywhere" at once.

With that bookmark these blogs and you'll get a pretty good taste of what life is like up here in the Pac Norf.

The Remix

Ed* This is like a car wreck. You want to look away, but you can't. Thanks Matt

Another Martyr

Three district attorneys in New York are trying to charge legendary graffiti writer Ket with the worst sentence in history.

The worst part is that Ket was not actually caught in the act of painting graffiti but caught with photos of graffiti on his computer.

This is an entirely new legal approach in the never ending war on graffiti. Hypothetically speaking if Ket were to be convicted on circumstantial evidence then any graffiti artist could be charged without ever being caught, but by proving that the writer is the same person behind ALL tags, throw-ups, pieces, etc of the name or alias in question.

Hopefully Ket will not be the next martyr for graffiti (for that see: GKAE, Desa, Smash, to name a few) and the case will be thrown out due to the fact that they have zero evidence and that Ket has never been charged or convicted for graffiti in his life.

Read the story NY vs. Ket
