I was waiting for something substantial regarding this dude Solar that every hip hop blog on the planet was talking about. The vibe I got was that he was a control freak, poser, weirdo, type dude that was trying to piggyback off Guru. After reading this article on the Village Voice though I think this dude may be one of the biggest pieces of shit in the history of the music industry.
Now I think it is worth asking though why is it that Guru let this guy run his life in such a manner? I mean the dude was his manager. You can fire your manager anytime you want. So why did he let the guy work him until his health deteriorated and ultimately to his death?
Regardless, Solar played a huge role in Guru's death and will most likely end up going into hiding if he's smart.

Rest In Peace GURU
Very few groups have ever made more than one classic album. Gang Starr managed to make 4. You can argue about which ones if you want. I only messed with the main four.
At any rate I think "Moment Of Truth" is probably the most fitting given the passing of GURU yesterday.
Thanks for all the great memories and shows.

Mash Out Posse

Forgive me for slipping on this one.
I have always kept M.O.P in a special little place in my heart of hearts.
They Billy Danze and Fame a.k.a Fizzy Womack are the only two people besides my mother that I will let yell at me.
M.O.P is hit or miss. They always have been. They either make a really good song or a real shit one, but watch out when they make a banger because that thing will wreck your Mazda speakers in 5 seconds flat.
It doesn't hurt that Premiere fucks with these dudes constantly. Together that trio have been responsible for some of the most hardcore tracks of the last decade plus.
This go round we only get one Premiere track, but the album sounds good all the way through.
Get your Mash Out on Brrrraaaaapppppp

Group Home

For those that doubted my "Nore makes Lil Dap look like Nas" sentiment here is Group Home's "Livin' Proof" for your listening pleasures.
In hind sight these dudes don't really offer much in the lyrics department, but they do just enough to make you want to keep listening to it over and over.
This album could also be used as a perfect example on why Premiere is the best producer in the history of hip-hop. It sounds just as good today as it did when it was bumping in my walkman over a decade (and some change) ago.
Sykeeeeee cause I wouldn't be Livin' Proof

Jeru The Damaja

Primo is the best producer of hip hop music without any question. Although I may be a bit biased seeing as the dude practically produced the soundtrack through all of my high school year's. I think I'm getting a bit too nostalgic for my own taste.
At any rate this one is a certified classic and Jeru ages pretty well as an emcee which doesn't hurt.
