Nas x Portishead

I really have no love for mash ups. I thought it was cool as an analog thing. When djs had to make it happen on turntables and such, but it just became so played out so fast that I couldn't really pay the concept any mind. That's just me.

If done well they can be really great.

This one is really old and was done by Dangermouse pre-Grey album from what I gather.

New Order

No I don't have the nerve to offer some sort of "insight" into the world of New Order.

What can you really say about them other than that they make good music. I think my affinity for bands like The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, Portishead, and the like has really grown over the year seeing as we share the same miserable climate which breeds this type of melodramatic sound.

Peep the color swatch in the upper right hand corner of the cover. Peter Saville's design actually uses the code swatch to represent the band's name and album title. By using the key on the back you were able to decipher the actual title. Of course for the U.S release they had to actually put the words on the front because we are a nation of imbeciles apparently.

New Portishead Album "3"

The new album simply titled "3" won't be released until April 28th, but you can have it now thanks to some Super Duty Tough Work informants who shall remain nameless for safety reasons. I just finished listening all the way through and it is really good. I mean really good. It has been over 11 years since the band released it's last studio album "Portishead" which was only the second offering from the group. Since then there has only been one official release "Roseland NYC Live" (1998) which was a culmination of live recordings performed with a full orchestra. Now we have "3." The break half way through "Small" is the best thing I've heard in forever.

Do yourself a favor and download this now before I get some cease and desist email. Capiche?
