Real Deal Comix x Stussy

I think it's cool that Stussy has been focusing on illustrators so heavily these last few years i.e Mike Judge, John.K and Lawrence Hubbard.

Personally, I feel that illustration is the highest form of art. To make an iconic character is just a lot more difficult than to slop some mess on a canvas.

Anyways, check this project out.

Korgoth Of Barbaria

I will never forgive whichever executives passed on making this into a series.

Never.

If you haven't seen it then you're welcome.

CHLLNGR

Really stoked that music videos are going more and more towards animation. I can only take so many "dramtic" smoking weed, fat ass, riding bikes whilst rapping videos.

John K. Does The Simpsons Couch Gag

Who and what?

John K. is the dude that created Ren and Stimpy. His illustration style is beyond good and chances are your favorite modern cartoon steals from something he pioneered.

Check out his blog JOHN K STUFF for tons of characters and animation inspirations (stuff you are going to steal)

Basil Wolverton

My good buddy hipped me to this dude's work. I tripped out because it's pre- R.Crumb by a few decades.

Check him out.

SuperJail! Season 1 DVD

Do yourself a solid favor and buy this dvd at once.

What is Superjail?

If Willy Wonka ran a prison instead of a chocolate factory is bascially the best way to explain it.

Best cover art I've seen in a long time.

Quasimoto "Bullyshit"

Quasimoto is clearly an acquired taste.

I've never seen this video before, but it has a lot of cool animation and graffiti homage cues.

Check it out preferably while huffing air duster.

Dock Ellis & The LSD No No

This is hands down one of the most creative pieces I have seen all year.

Everything is on point from the art direction, narration, score, and animation style stand points.

It is really inspiring to say the least.

Korgoth of Barbaria

Besides dancehall, graffiti, and trap rap I'm actually quite a big geek for animation.

Korgoth of Barbaria was only a pilot on Cartoon Network, but it by far would have been the most face melting awesome cartoon to hit the airwaves had they green lighted it for a full season.

It's sort of Superjail-ish, but more um barbaric? Is that word I'm looking for?

Anyways, it rules. Just watch it and tell me I'm wrong.

My First Cartoons

Most of you are not privy to what it is I actually do for employment. Some of you may even think that the clothing line stuff keeps my pockets fat.

Ha. I can assure you that Heavy Manners ain't paying the rent.

However, I do work full time as a producer and art director here in Seattle. I produce retail branded TV shows for everyone from Hot Topic to McDonalds. It is a pretty good gig to say the least. After a while at the job I finally got a show that allowed me to draw something from scratch. I had the graphics/animation department turn some drawings into actual animated characters for the program.

These are some stills from the files. Also it is worth noting that where you see black in these frames is where the video and backgrounds will be.

So don't be surprised if you get some lucky girl knocked up and need to go baby shopping at any mall in America and you run into these dudes jumping all over the screens.

The Best of FFFFOUND

I've recently become extremely obsessed with "found" type blogs. I enjoy the fact that they are free of criticisms and opinion. By removing the written word they become open to interpretation by the viewers and take the focus away from the author.

I went through about 60 pages to create my own FFFFound image gallery. There's no cohesive theme, but I like the results.

Enjoy.

Dancefloor Dale

You're most likely wondering what the above picture is all about.

If you have a few minutes and are not at work I would highly suggest clicking the link below and watching a little video called Dancefloor Dale directed by Eric Wareheim of (Tim & Eric fame) with music by Flying Lotus.

Seriously. It's a must.

Superjail!

Just when you thought Aqua Teen, Venture Bros, and Metalocalypse were the best shows on Adult Swim along comes Superjail!.

This show will ruin anything you currently watch as far as cartoons go. The best way I can describe it is to imagine smoking dust while taking shots of Nyquil and listening to Slayer.

I am officially going on record here and saying this will be the best show of the year.

Peep it while it is still up for view.

"Coonskin" by Ralph Bakshi

Watching Ralph Bakshi's animated films feels like you've just smoking two joints of dust.

The animation is nothing short of bananas. The dialogue is always vile and the story lines amazingly bizarre.

Sex, drugs, and funk is one way to describe them.

I would not necessarily recommend Bakshi flicks to most people. If you do not enjoy animation then definitely skip them, but if you like animation and bugged out flicks then I would highly suggest picking one up.

I just finished "Coonskin" a.k.a Street Fight and it was crazy to say the least. If you are already familiar with Bakshi's catalogue then you might want to try "Coonskin."

Good luck finding a copy though. It took me 3 years to find one at retail.

Murakami

A lot of people hype up Murakami's work to gigantic proportions. His work is coveted by celebs, music artists, and the wealthy. If that isn't enough the man almost single-handedly brought "all over" print to the forefront of the world with his infamous Louis Vuitton bag. Dare I say the most imitated and knocked off pattern of the last decade?

All that being said, I can not see why this dude doesn't deserve the attention. His work is amazing and just hands down more enjoyable then 90% of the rubbish being passed as "art" these days.

I am just gonna assume that this is an ad of some sorts for Louis Vuitton seeing as the budget to make an animation piece this long would be really pricey. The fact that the entire theme of the short focuses on the iconic Louis Vuitton print was also my first clue.
Anyhow, watch it and bug out.
