I came across this post 20 Worst Hip Hop Album Covers via RazaUno but I have to say the dude that wrote the piece is pretty funny, but left me sort of confused on what makes an album cover bad and what makes it awesome.
He even used some SDTW picks peep here.
I highly disagree with the inclusion of:
Bullet Proof Wallets = it's just a boring cover, but not worth mentioning
Common = dude has way more questionable covers than "Finding Forever" most notably "Flying Circus" or whatever shit Erykah Badu had that dude doing p.s that chick is like the Yoko of rap. If you fuck her she will make you wear the worst shit ever on your head proof.
Birdman = Deserved his own Top 20 (but he roasted him anyway)
Note: dude's description of the Sweet P cover and M$. Tee were amazing.

Reggae Album Cover Art
That King Kong record would win this one if it was higher resolution.
He's just bossing up in front of a fucking parrot like it's some every day type shit. Game over.

DOOOOOOOM
Has it really been ten fucking years since this joint dropped?
Wow.
Time flies.
At any rate this song is still the jimmy jam.
Also propers to Monsieur Killa Keo Lord Scotchford Shabazz for making one of the best rap album covers of all time.
Happy Friday fat girls!
Also if you didn't know. If you ever need a good laugh look no further than Youtube comments. People say the lamest shit on the internet primarily in Youtube comment sections. Not sure why. I guess because everyone is a fucking critic and or a music scholar. Look below at just the first one I saw.
For real dog? How does one find a music artist on their own, blood? What were the brilliant steps you took to find such an "obscure" artist? What you walked into a fucking Sam Goody? More likely someone recommended Doom to you at a fucking poetry slam while you were riffin some poem about an oil spill to impress some girl from PETA that you invited to the coffee shop.
And yeah, fuck mainstream. Mainstream is SO wick wack.
Da'fuckouttahere.

Mixtape Art
I would pay money to sit in on a brainstorming session at Pen and Pixel
I'm not being sarcastic.
I really want to be in a meeting where someone says "I think we could have him just surrounded by I don't know...bears? Maybe like some strawberries or some shit in the foreground. Could we give the bears sunglasses or something?"

Aeon
Got this in my inbox this morning. So good.
My buddy Aeon from Australia blazed a nice little Limonious character trackside for everyone to enjoy. These Aussie dudes aren't playin.

Here's the original Limonious art:

Early B "Ghost Busters"
So after getting that first Early B album off I found out that I've been sleeping on the real gem which came out a year later called "Ghost Busters."
The album has some heat on it courtesy of production by Ossie Thomas, Tristan Palmer, and Garrick Robertson and as bonus you get Scientist on the engineering tip.
The sleeve art is by one of my favorite illustrators Wilfred Limonious. For reasons unknown there seems to be no website, book, or any sort of contact for Limonoius or his work. I know he is dead, but that's about it. If anyone knows anything about him that is noteworthy get at me.
For now just sekkle with one of the meanest covers ever.

Is it just me or Gregory Isaacs the coolest looking dude of all time? Dude is so official. If anyone else tried to rock those hats they would look retarded. He's like the Christian Hosoi of roots.
Also...
If anyone has that Burning Sounds/Ranking Dread zip please get at me. I highly doubt that will happen, but you never know.

Boom Shot
The obsession with all things bizarre and Jamaican continues. The well of design from which I find these covers is endless. I could make a blog dedicated solely to random reggae lp art and I would never get to the bottom.
Enjoy.

Easy Sugar!!!

Where is Purpleman now?

Kind of weak design, but a wicked photo. Oi! Oi! Oi!

New Vybz Kartel Album
And the worst album cover of the year goes to.....
Vybz.
Easy Vybz. I haven't had time to fully listen to this new album mainly due to the fact that I can't stop shakin' from how scary Addi looks on the cover.
I'm not even gonna tell you what I think about this album. I'm just gonna rip on this horrible excuse for an album cover. I mean as someone who lives and breathes for dancehall music and all things Jamaican this is just so bad.
Vybz shouldn't let his herb carrier do his lay-outs. Of course I sort of feel he had a hand in this dismal looking thing as I'm sure Vybz was the ad-wiz who came up with the brilliant idea of getting his 4 tears tat and bandanna on also known as "Weezy-itis". The t-shirt being off is known as DMXatosis or Ja Ruleapecia.
On the real though there's some big tunes on here. Run it. You won't be disappointed.

Metallica "Kill 'Em All"
As Hallow's Eve approaches us I thought I'd keep with the metal thing and post up some more face melting shit.
This album dropped when I was all of 3 years old. My older sister probably had it as she had all things metal. My first tape purchased was Guns N' Roses "Appetite For Destruction" mainly because of her influence over my tastes at the time.
This little gem was just a bonus image I found while searching for the album cover. Nice.
This is a pretty rad story about the original title and art work for what would become "Kill 'Em All."
Taken from Wikipedia:
The band initially planned to title the album Metal Up Your Ass, and it would boast a cover featuring a toilet bowl with a hand clutching a dagger emerging from it. However, Megaforce urged them to change it and they agreed, switching to Kill 'Em All. This time the cover featured the shadow of a hand letting go of a bloodied hammer. Cliff Burton is credited with coming up with the name Kill 'Em All (referring to timid record distributors) as a response to the whole situation.
This was the original title and cover that the band submitted.
