Mega Banton
You probably think I am higher than giraffe pussy posting up an album cover with ol' boy running around in church pajamas.
Dancehall is funny like that. You have to drop your normal "wackness" blockers and sift through stuff like this to find the gems. Doubt me? Put this tune on pussyholes.
Mega Banton is 90's Ragga Bad Man Business to the fullness. Plus I think Jack Scorpio produced this album so nuff said there.
Propers to DigitalReggae for having the album linkage cause mediafire was acting like a mug.
Get it on the dl HERE

Back In Time Mix By DJ Gravy & DJ Teddy King
Back In Time Mix by DJ Gravy and DJ Teddy King.
I would post this mixtape just on the strength of the cover alone.
There is not enough cartoonish dancehall mixtape covers in this world.
Great job whoever drew this.

FADER 67: Shabba Ranks

It is about time someone gave Shabba a cover.
Dude is the king of deejays.
Fact.
I am gonna go buy a copy just for the photos. I don't need to read about Vampire Weekend or some other flash in the pan business.

Alborosie "Blue Movie Boo"
I'm not sure how he pulled this one off, but Alborosie (born and raised in Italy) channels his inner Buju (90's Buju mind you) for this tune.
The video isn't too bad considering dancehall videos are some of the most shiteous things ever captured on video, but you the viewer gets treated to some slack bubbling, a U-Roy cameo, weird Italian dudes showing up to the yard, and so on.
Hats off to Alborosie for pulling off the 90's dancehall hail mary.
Easyyyyyyyy!

Sound Man Business
I just came across this dude's youtube page where he mixes a whole set of tunes from one riddim into a cohesive mix. It's really good because he gives you foundation to modern back to back so you don't get zoned out on similar versions of the riddim.
Needless to say the dude has a mean box of 45's.
Check him out HERE

100% Dynamite
Souls Jazz says:
2008 two CD release jam-packed full of New York's finest Dancehall Reggae and Hip Hop sounds. From the 1980s onwards, New York developed it's own Dancehall and Soundclash scene away from Jamaica. Nearly all the artists involved were first and second-generation Jamaicans living in New York who took both Reggae and Hip Hop as their points of reference. 100% Dynamite NYC features a stellar line-up of New York/Jamaica's finest - everyone from Kenny Dope to Supercat and a heavyweight selection of the finest Reggae/Dancehall/hip-hop tunes you will ever hear!
I say:
This is the jump off right here. It sounds like a whole bunch of songs that DJ SW1 would play at the end of an In Living Color episode. Also I support anything Louie Rankin is involved in blindly.
You can almost smell the trash can fire when you bump this.

Ninjaman Monsters of Dancehall
There really isn't an American music artist that equals Ninjaman in terms of controversy. I mean on one hand you could say he is like dancehall's Old Dirty Bastard, but even then you wouldn't truly understand the full scope of the man.
Ninja came up with Supercat and Early B with Kilimanjaro Sound under his first nom de plume Uglyman. There already was an Uglyman so he changed it to Ninjaman and the rest (to use the cliche) is history.
Whether it was clashing with everyone and their mother for the past 2 decades, getting addicted to crack, being charged for murder a few times, doing time for gun possession, getting assaulted by a machete wielding maniac, being banned from reggae festivals and multiple performance venues, Ninjaman never really could be stopped.
Above: A small view into the world that is Ninjaman
The latest case looks pretty bad for the "Original Front Tooth, Gold Tooth, Gun Pon Tooth Don Gorgon."
He is being charged for murder of a man named Rickey Trooper (not the famous selector) and things aren't looking good, but we'll have to wait and see.
This Greensleeve's release dropped the ball on some really basic hits such as "Murder Dem" "Permit To Bury" and "Test The High Power" but overall its as good enough of a place to start as any other with Ninjaman.
"Only ninja can kill a ninja."
