Battalion of Saints

For those of you into punk/hardcore history this is a decent clip I found of BATS playing somewhere.

A few years ago I had a job washing dishes at this 5 star restaurant in downtown SD called Cafe Cherise. My buddy Jason owned the place and one of the chefs was this guy named George.

George used to crack jokes and fuck around a bit and I thought he seemed a bit different for an older guy that had a pretty posh job. It turns out that George the Chef was the lead singer of the Battalion of Saints. The group is widely recognized as one of the better bands from the hardcore era and all the original memebers are dead except for George.

Needless to say I was stunned. It's a small world out there.

Happy 9/11?

So we are now 6 years older since the travesty that was 9/11.

And what do we have to show for it?

1.) Two big holes where the Twin Towers stood.
Ed* Nothing like showing those terrorists that these colors don't run by not replacing the symbolic structures that were taken out by the attack
2.) A new "Vietnam" with no end in sight
3.) Bin Laden still at large
4.) Terrorist cells are at the highest recruitment levels ever

and

5.) 50 and Kanye's newest albums

Wow. We've come a long way. I mean what happened to the "United" America, the flags, the bumper stickers, the charity drives?

America = Land of the......oh who cares I'm gonna go download the new Ye' album.

Katt Williams

I've been into stand-up comedy since way back when and being a part of the hip hop generation if that's what we should call it I suppose most of comedians I liked happened to be black. Not that it matters, but that's just sort of the way it was. I watched Def Comedy Jam, BET Comic View, and In Living Color constantly and that's how we did it in our house.

I think Katt Williams has a good shot at being a great stand up comedian if his first stand up special is any indication of what is to come from the 5 foot pimp.

The VMA's were horrible yet again, but seeing Soulja Boy get his 45 seconds of fame made it all worth it.

It's Wu Mutha F*cker

Be honest now besides Ghostface the Wu Tang Clan have made zero impact with any of their collective releases in the last 5 plus years. Arguably the best thing to happen to the Wu besides Ghost's output would be the El Michaels Affair and with no schedule release for the much anticipated "Cuban Linx 2" on After Math Records there isn't much to believe in for Wu fans.

Some people heralded Masta Killa's "No Said Date" as a return to the old sound, but I can truthfully say that the only Wu projects that I've purchased or made the effort to get a burn of are Ghost albums. This is coming from a guy who would buy ANYTHING that had a "W" on it.

You name it and I had it: Killa Army's follow-up, The Swarm Comp, La The Dark Man, Killah Priest, Theodore Unit, Cappadona's second album, Sunz of Man, Mathematics.

I think the only thing I passed up back then was Wu Gambinos and that's because I have a little thing called dignity.

Let's just hope that the new Wu album "8 Diagrams" leaves a lasting mark that "The W" and "Iron Flag" didn't even bother to do.

Iron Sheik Snitching

I came across this randomly and for whatever reason I think it is funny. I mean it sounds like the WWF was just full of coked out roid heads. When I was 7 years old I thought they were "athletes" then again looking back on the Ultimate Warrior I should have known he was on enough blow to kill a horse.

Oh and there is a million clips of the Iron Sheik going ape shit on camera so just search on you tube your self for those gems.

Mass Appeal vs The Art Dump Show

My buddy Charlie sent me a whole bunch of flicks from a couple spots he painted for Dewar's and pics from Mass Appeal Vs. The Art Dump show that was held a couple weeks ago.

7th Day Project

The 7th Letter machine keeps pumping out high quality graffiti films every 7th day of the month and the latest one is by far their best.

Typically they follow the featured writer through the completion of a piece, but this time around they just went straight to the street and tagged (no pun intended) along with Zeser as he climbs up to crazy spots to get over.

Hopefully they continue with this piecing/bombing format.

Only Ninja Cyann Kill A Ninja

First there was the Capleton cartoon and now this.

Wow!

All I can tell you folks that read SDTW is that if you don't listen to Ninjaman your life is missing something.

If I had to equate him to someone in the hip-hop/rap world I would say he is most similar to Kool Keith, but even with that comparison it doesn't really do Ninja justice.

So I inputed the Google Analytics program to track visitors and a whole bunch of info about the site.

This is what it told me me:

This month we have visitors from: 7 countries, 21 U.S States, and they spend an avearge of 7 minutes on the site.

Boom Shaka Laka!

Of course the majority of visitors are made up of Californians and Washingtonians (but we already knew that.)

So spread the word like an std.

I think it is safe to say that summer is nearing it's end. The kids are back at school, football is starting up, and the sunsets will begin to come earlier each day.
